Overview

Duodenal ulcers are sores that form on the lining of the duodenum, the first part of the small intestine. These sores can cause a variety of symptoms, including abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and bloating. Duodenal ulcers can range in size from very small to large and deep. They often occur due to the presence of a Helicobacter pylori infection, a type of bacteria that can cause an imbalance of the digestive system’s natural acidity. In some cases, duodenal ulcers can also be caused by the use of certain medications, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Treatment for duodenal ulcers typically involves a combination of antibiotics and other medications to help reduce the symptoms and promote healing. Surgery may also be an option in some cases. It is important to seek medical attention for any suspected ulcers for proper diagnosis and treatment.
