Overview

Orthopedic trauma is a branch of medicine that deals with injuries to the musculoskeletal system. It pertains to both traumatic and non-traumatic injuries that can be caused by a variety of causes including accidents, falls, sporting injuries, overuse and age-related degeneration. Orthopedic trauma is used to restore movement, limit pain, and regain mobility. This involves diagnosing the cause of the injury and using a range of treatments including medication, surgical interventions, rest, physical therapy and lifestyle modifications. Orthopedic trauma is important because it can help those with injuries due to trauma or age-related degeneration to regain their mobility and function, improving their quality of life.
