Osteoarthritis Research

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease that is the most common arthritic condition. It is characterized by cartilage degeneration, joint inflammation, and pain that limit mobility and activities of daily living. Research on OA is aimed at developing treatments and therapies to reduce pain, improve joint function and quality of life for the millions of people living with OA. Current research includes investigations into the causes, risk factors, and progression of the disease. It also focuses on potential pharmacological, nutritional, exercise, and therapeutic treatments to reduce symptoms and improve function. Understanding the underlying biological pathways of OA will provide insight into new and effective treatments, improve diagnosis and prognosis, and ultimately improve quality of life for those that suffer from this condition.
