Editorial Policies
Authors submitting manuscripts to any Open Access Pub journal are expected to have read and understood the following policies. Non-adherence may affect your publication at any stage. Where a situation falls outside the scope of these policies, it will be addressed in accordance with the guidelines established by COPE, OASPA, and ICMJE.
Plagiarism
All manuscripts are screened for originality using Crossref Similarity Check (powered by iThenticate/Turnitin). Manuscripts found to contain plagiarised content are desk-rejected and the plagiarism report is provided to the authors for reference. Self-plagiarism is also treated seriously; however, if an abstract has been previously published and the author wishes to submit a full paper, this is permitted with prior disclosure. Articles archived on preprint servers or blogs may be submitted provided clear information is given at the time of submission.
Copyright Permissions
Authors must obtain copyright permissions wherever required, in accordance with the licence under which the original material was published. Clear referencing of the original source is mandatory. Failure to obtain permissions or to properly reference the original work will result in rejection of the manuscript.
Authorship Eligibility
Authors meeting the following criteria are eligible to publish with Open Access Pub:
- Qualifications: Ph.D., MD, MSW/MPH, Masters, or any equivalent research-based qualification or position
- Affiliations: Authors should be affiliated with a university or organisation with a formal appointment
- Independent researchers: Must have a significant publishing history
Author Contributions
Author contributions should be clearly stated in the cover letter. Authorship should be defined in accordance with ICMJE and COPE international standards for authors.
Changes to the author list (reordering, additions, or removals) after acceptance or publication require written consent from all authors, including the author subject to change. Requests must include an appropriate justification. Without complete documentation, no changes will be made.
Conflicts of Interest
All financial and non-financial conflicts of interest must be disclosed in the designated section of the manuscript. For detailed guidance, refer to the ICMJE conflict-of-interest recommendations.
Open Access & Peer Review
Open Access: All published content is freely available online, permitting any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to full-text articles without financial, legal, or technical barriers beyond internet access. The only constraint on reproduction is that authors retain control over the integrity of their work and the right to proper acknowledgement and citation.
Peer Review: Single-blind peer review is our standard model. Authors who prefer double-blind review may do so by excluding their names and affiliations from the manuscript and providing them only in the cover letter. See our Peer Review page for full details.
Funding Disclosure
Funding information is included in the manuscript and appears in both the online and PDF versions of the published article. This section is required only when applicable funding details exist.
Research Ethics
Ethical conduct is expected from all parties involved in the publication process. Open Access Pub follows the guidelines of COPE and recommends that editors, reviewers, and authors consult the COPE and ICMJE websites for comprehensive guidance.
Animal Research: Laboratory animals must be treated in accordance with applicable regulations and handled with care. Precautionary measures taken during experimentation must be documented. Scientific fraud and false research are not tolerated.
Human Subjects: Informed consent must be obtained from all participants after full disclosure of potential outcomes. Privacy and confidentiality must be maintained. Manipulation of participants through excessive incentives is prohibited.
Copyright & Licensing
All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain copyright and publishing rights without restrictions. Under this licence:
- Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
- Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial use
The only requirement is appropriate attribution: credit to the original author, a link to the licence, and indication of any changes made.
Post-Publication Changes
Corrections, retractions, addenda, and supplementary information are handled in accordance with COPE retraction guidelines and are marked via CrossMark to maintain the accuracy and currency of the published record.
Additional Resources
We recommend all authors review the COPE International Standards for Authors and the ICMJE Recommendations before submitting a manuscript.
