Overview
The human reproductive system comprises the organs and tissues responsible for producing gametes, supporting fertilization, and, in females, sustaining pregnancy and childbirth. The female system includes the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, and vagina, and operates under cyclical control of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, which orchestrates ovulation, the menstrual cycle, and the endocrine support of gestation. The male system comprises the testes, epididymis, vas deferens, accessory glands, and penis, producing and delivering sperm.
