Active Transport

Active transport is the process of moving molecules across a cell membrane through the use of energy. This process is important for maintaining proper cell function, as it helps regulate the balance of ions, nutrients, hormones, and other molecules within a cell. Active transport is also key for transporting molecules from the outside environment into the cell, or from the cell out into the environment. It is particularly useful for moving molecules across a membrane against a concentration gradient, and it is a crucial process for many important biological functions, including thermoregulation, cell-to-cell communication, and ion movement.
