Cell-mediated Immunity

Cell-mediated immunity is an important part of our body's natural defenses against invaders. It involves a type of white blood cell called a T-cell that recognizes and eliminates foreign substances, such as viruses and bacteria, that enter the body. This type of immunity is also very important for our body's ability to recognize and reject foreign tissues, such as in organ transplantation. Cell-mediated immunity is a critical component of our body's ability to fight off infection and disease. By recognizing and attacking foreign substances, it helps to protect us from infection and illness.
