G Protein Coupled Receptors

G Protein Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) are a family of proteins found on the surface of cells that are crucial for cell communication and signaling. GPCRs are involved in the regulation of essential biological processes like metabolism, immunity, and nervous system activity. They bind to chemical messengers, such as hormones and neurotransmitters, then trigger a cascade of intracellular events that eventually result in a cellular response. GPCRs are also involved in cell-to-cell communication and are essential for proper tissue formation and development. In addition, they are important drug targets for a range of pharmaceuticals, making them a highly important field in biomedical research.
