G1 Phase

G1 phase is the first of four phases in the cell cycle, which is the process that cells undergo to divide and reproduce. During G1 phase, the cell begins preparing for DNA replication, activating the processes that will drive DNA synthesis. G1 phase is important for maintaining the integrity of the cell cycle and the growth and development of organisms. Additionally, the outcomes of G1 phase have a critical influence on the further divisions of the cell. As such, G1 phase can be a key target for therapeutic intervention in diseases caused by dysregulated cell growth, such as cancer.
