Oncogenic Signaling

Oncogenic signaling is the process whereby certain genetic or environmental factors lead to the uncontrolled growth of cells and the formation of malignant or cancerous tumors. The oncogenic signaling cascade is thought to involve genetic mutations, changes in gene expression, epigenetic changes, and the activation of various growth factor pathways. These processes can lead to the disruption of cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, or other processes that can contribute to tumorigenesis. Understanding oncogenic signaling can help scientists develop new targeted therapies for cancer treatment and prevention.
