Peripheral Membrane Proteins

Peripheral membrane proteins are proteins located in the outer membrane of cells that are not embedded in the cell wall. They are essential for cell survival, as they play key roles in cell communication, structure, and metabolic processes. These proteins allow for communication between cells, as well as between the cell and its environment. They are also involved in transmembrane signaling, metabolic regulation, and cell adhesion. Peripheral membrane proteins have a major impact on the functioning of cells, making them of critical importance for a wide range of biological processes.
