Special Issues
JHC displays a Special Issue after its scholarly scope, editorial accountability, status, and submission requirements are complete.
No JHC Special Issue is currently open for submission. Manuscripts that fit JHC may be submitted as regular submissions through the journal’s official route.
Current Special Issue status
There is no open JHC Special Issue listed for submission at present.
What is required before a call is listed
Each public call must identify its title, scholarly scope, status, submission route, and a named guest editor with affiliation and ORCID.
Why this information matters
Authors need enough information to assess whether a manuscript fits a defined collection and to understand who is responsible for its editorial oversight.
When to submit as a regular manuscript
JHC continues to consider regular submissions that fit its stated scope and meet its preparation and policy requirements.
Research fit
JHC considers evidence-led work in hypertension, cardiovascular medicine, vascular and cerebrovascular research, cardiometabolic risk, prevention, diagnostics, therapeutics, epidemiology, and translational cardiovascular research.
Article types
The journal considers Research Articles, Review Articles, Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses, Clinical Case Reports, Short Communications, and Letters. Expert Perspectives are by invitation only.
Clinical responsibility
A manuscript should report methods, limitations, ethics, and clinical or scientific interpretation with the precision appropriate to its study design. Journal pages provide publication information, not personal medical advice.
Editorial handling and publication standards
A future JHC Special Issue would operate within the journal’s normal editorial and research-integrity framework.
Independent decisions
Guest editors and handling editors must declare and manage competing interests. Manuscripts are assessed under the journal’s editorial policies, and editorial decisions are independent of fees, waiver requests, and commercial considerations.
Peer review and preparation
JHC uses single-blind peer review, with double-blind review available on request. Authors should follow the relevant reporting, ethics, consent, funding, conflict, data, and trial-registration requirements before submission.
Fees
The Article Processing Charge is USD 2,100 and is payable only after acceptance. The APC page is the source for the current charge and waiver information.
Submit a regular JHC manuscript when the research fits the journal.
No Special Issue designation is needed when no open Special Issue is listed. Use the regular submission route after checking the JHC scope, author instructions, editorial policies, and APC information.
