Special Issues require verified leadership and a defined scholarly purpose
No active JPMC Special Issue with a verified named guest editor, approved scope, and current dates is confirmed. This page therefore explains the approval standard rather than advertising an unverified call.

A collection is listed as active only after its scholarly lead, scope, milestones, submission route, and oversight arrangements have been verified.
No verified active collection is displayed
JPMC will not publish a placeholder call, unnamed guest editorship, invented deadline, or generic topic list. A future collection will identify its guest editor, affiliation, ORCID iD where available, scope, key dates, and manuscript route.
What a proposal must establish
A proposal is assessed for scholarly need, fit with preventive medicine, available expertise, feasibility, and safeguards against conflicts or commercial control.
Focused question
A bounded prevention problem, population, intervention, method, or policy question that benefits from collection-level treatment.
Guest-editor evidence
Name, current affiliation, relevant publications, ORCID iD where available, conflicts of interest, and capacity to manage the work.
Editorial plan
Target article types, likely contributor community, reviewer expertise, milestones, and a closure rule if submissions are insufficient.
Integrity plan
Handling of guest-editor submissions, related authors, commissioned work, confidentiality, data concerns, and post-publication issues.
- The topic must fit JPMC's prevention-focused Aims & Scope; a broad clinical theme is not enough.
- A proposal is not an agreement to publish a collection or any individual manuscript.
- Sponsorship, funding, or APC arrangements cannot transfer editorial authority or influence decisions.
Editorial control remains with the journal
Guest editors coordinate subject expertise within the journal's policies. The journal retains final authority over scope, reviewer suitability, conflicts, decisions, corrections, retractions, and closure.
Conflicts and recusal
Guest editors disclose relevant relationships and recuse from manuscripts involving their own work, close collaborators, institutions, or other material conflicts.
Independent handling
A guest editor's own manuscript, or a manuscript presenting a conflict, is assigned to an independent editor and follows the same review standard.
Reviewer selection
Reviewers are chosen for topic and method expertise. Suggested reviewers are screened and are not guaranteed assignments.
Research integrity
The journal may request source data, ethics documentation, authorship clarification, or institutional input, and may pause or close a collection.
How manuscripts are handled
Collection eligibility
The editorial office confirms the manuscript fits both JPMC and the approved collection scope.
Independent peer review
Each manuscript is assessed on its own evidence and receives the journal's single-blind review process, with double-blind review available on request.
Decision
The handling editor evaluates the manuscript and reports. Inclusion in a proposal or invitation does not guarantee review, acceptance, or publication.
Publication and closure
Accepted articles may publish individually and be grouped into the collection. The journal records closure, incomplete milestones, and post-publication action transparently.
Charges
The standard JPMC APC is invoiced only after acceptance. Editorial decisions remain independent of fees and collection participation.
