Before you send
Three things worth checking
- The physiological question is the subject of the manuscript, and it falls within the Aims and Scope.
- The manuscript carries the declarations the Editorial Policies require, including a data-availability statement for empirical research.
- Preparation follows the Instructions for Authors, and any request for double-blind review is noted with the submission.
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal’s scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
Editorial decisions are independent of fees, services, membership, and editorial or reviewer roles. The route chosen, membership and the article processing charge have no bearing on how a manuscript is handled or decided.
